Code of Conduct
Caledonia Badminton & Racquet Club
We want everyone to have fun, stay active, and build a love for racquet sports!
Whether you’re playing badminton, pickleball, tennis, or any other racquet sport — this Code of Conduct helps us all be great teammates, opponents, and community members.

For All Players:

Be a Good Sport
-
Play fairly and give your best effort, win or lose.
-
Shake hands or paddle-tap after matches and say “Good game!”
-
Encourage others and recognize great shots — on both sides.
-
Stay calm and respectful. If an issue arises, pause play and speak respectfully to your opponent, referee, or organizer.
-
Avoid arguing, swearing, or displaying anger.
Respect Everyone
-
Treat all players, coaches, volunteers, and officials with kindness and respect.
-
Listen when others are speaking.
-
Use inclusive, positive language — no teasing, yelling, or put-downs.
-
Welcome players of all backgrounds, abilities, and experience levels.
Follow the Rules
-
Learn and play by the rules of your sport.
-
Accept the referee or organizer’s calls — even if you disagree.
-
Demonstrate honesty and integrity at all times.
Care for Equipment & Facilities
-
Handle racquets, nets, and balls responsibly.
-
Help with setup and cleanup when possible.
-
Keep the playing area clean and safe — no food, drinks (other than water), or litter on the courts.
Be a Positive Teammate and Club Member
-
Arrive on time and prepared for matches or sessions.
-
Encourage and support others, especially those who are new to the sport.
-
Represent the club with pride — on and off the court.

For Parents, Guardians & Adult Participants:

Model Respect and Sportsmanship
-
Cheer positively for all players and teams.
-
Show respect for coaches, referees, organizers, and other spectators.
-
Avoid negative comments, arguments, or criticism — in person or online.
-
Remember that this is a recreational, inclusive environment focused on learning, health, and fun.
Create a Supportive Environment
-
Encourage effort, teamwork, and growth over winning.
-
Celebrate improvement and perseverance.
-
Help ensure that children and youth follow their player responsibilities.
-
For adult leagues, help foster camaraderie and fairness — we’re all here to enjoy the game.
Communicate Respectfully
-
Address any concerns calmly and privately with organizers or coaches, outside of game time.
-
Support decisions made by officials and league organizers.
-
Refrain from coaching or criticizing players from the sidelines.

Consequences for Not Following the Code:

We believe in learning from mistakes and maintaining a safe, respectful environment. If someone doesn’t follow this Code:

-
First Step: A respectful conversation or reminder from a coach or organizer.
-
Next Step: A brief break or removal from play for the day.
-
Ongoing or Serious Issues: Suspension or removal from the club or league, if behaviour does not improve.

These steps apply to all participants — players, parents, and spectators.
When everyone shows respect, kindness, and fairness, our club thrives.
Let’s work together to make the Caledonia Badminton & Racquet Club a welcoming and positive place for all!
